Poem: Martha

Martha

You were a remnant ember,

gloriously glowing,

in what once was a forest fire of life.

Your symphonic song was

but an echo of a chorus

that now sings only in dwindling memory.

You were a slender shadow,

the last wisp of cloud,

of a titanic thunderstorm shading our land.

Your death has left us cold,

and suffering in silence,

lost without your comfort.

Your death,

haunts our souls.
