Poem: Autumn’s Moment

Autumn’s Moment

Seas of red, orange, and yellow,

bathe my world and make me mellow.

While cool winds dance across my face,

foretelling of future’s cold embrace.

Drying leaves scent the air

reminding me of summer’s snare.

As do calls from birds up high,

calling out their warm goodbyes.

From the heat and stress of summer,

to chilling march of winter’s drummer.

Food changes at this time.

From fruity salads to stews with thyme,

freshly picked veggies and fruit from vines,

turn to hearty soups and warmed up wines.

This change revives me and reminds me,

as I lay my back against a tree,

to take in these moments, now and then.

For when will you experience this again?
