Summertime Fishing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

–<\/p>\n\n

All summer it has stalked<\/p>\n\n

the back of my mind like<\/p>\n\n

a scaled bass waiting<\/p>\n\n

in the weeds to eat.<\/p>\n\n

This notion to go fishing.<\/p>\n\n

To let my line fly<\/p>\n\n

and my bobber float.<\/p>\n\n

To hear the singing line,<\/p>\n\n

and feel tugging at the rod.<\/p>\n\n

To relax on the bank<\/p>\n\n

and watch cool water<\/p>\n\n

flow past.<\/p>\n\n

Or sit on the dock<\/p>\n\n

and get lost in thought<\/p>\n\n

to the melody of<\/p>\n\n

the gentle lapping of waves.<\/p>\n\n

But now I sit here<\/p>\n\n

listening to the cold rain<\/p>\n\n

pelt the roof.<\/p>\n\n

The first of the fall storms.<\/p>\n\n

I realize I spent my summer<\/p>\n\n

dreaming of what I wished for<\/p>\n\n

instead of doing what I wished<\/p>\n\n

and now summer has passed. <\/p>\n\n
